Optimism is the leitmotif surrounding the upcoming Pittsburgh Summit. Yet certain concerns remain. A year ago, as the dramatic recession unfolded around the world, many were convinced we were heading for a repeat of the Crash of 1929.
Due to measures adopted at the G-20 Summit in London last April, the worst threat in decades to the global economy was contained.
After a 9 percent reduction, global trade has rebounded, thanks to the injection of U.S.$250 billion in flexible, unconditional credit. Nearly 50 million jobs will be lost in 2009, but there are signs that the worst is past. Another U.S.$750 billion went to stimulate demand and stabilize the current accounts of many — particularly developing — countries hit by the drastic cutback in foreign trade and credit.

Pittsburgh's G-20 story: Take an expressway from town and disappear into desolate 'hoods and encounter the civilization of menace. Pittsburgh, a dual city! The glass wonder of PPG Place and/or the G-20 Summit is a faded memory. Here in the 'hood lives lie abandoned as far as the eye can see.

That is: For the most part, African-American Pittsburgh seems to be invisible, not only to the public relations hucksters who tout Pittsburgh's successes, but we are equally invisible to the protesters.

Certainly, black Pittsburgh is as proud as anybody is that the black President we worked so hard to elect has selected Pittsburgh as the host of the G-20 Summit. We even enjoy the re-invention of Pittsburgh from a dirty, smoky steel-churning history to the bright, clean, green financial success that the business leaders and politicians boast about so loudly. Nobody is more proud of the Super Bowl winning African-American coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Mike Tomlin. But none of that feel-good stuff erases the pain of the stubbornly high unemployment among African American young adults and the staggering dropout rate for young black males from the public school system.

Well... I'm a brazilian, that lives in Brazil, and I have to say that Lula is more marketing than work. He continued, greatly, the Fernando Henrique's govern but it's not the "cure" like Obama or anyother "solution" in politic sphere.

Of course we need to celbrate this because this is one of the best presidents that Brazil having on their history, and is the most powerful leader of south america.

The G-20 Leaders' Summit on Financial Markets and the World Economy was held in London on 2 April 2009 at the ExCeL Centre. It followed the first G-20 Leaders Summit on Financial Markets and the World Economy, which was held in Washington, D.C. on 14–15 November 2008. Heads of government or heads of state from the Group of Twenty Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors (G-20), ccnp training, plus some regional and international organisations attended. Due to the extended membership it has been referred to as the London Summit.
